PEBBLES- MERCEDES BOY

Born Perri McKissack in Oakland, CA, on November 6, 1966, the singer got her start in the early '80s as a backup singer for percussionist/band leader Bill Summers and the funk outfit Con Funk Shun, helping co-pen one of the latter band's hits, "Body Lovers." By the end of the decade, however, McKissack was ready to go out on her own, going by the name Pebbles and signing a recording contract with MCA. Her self-titled 1988 debut album featured contributions from both Babyface and Michael Sembello (as well as renowned producer L.A. Reid, who Pebbles would eventually marry), and spawned a pair of Top Five hits, "Girlfriend" and "Mercedes Boy," pushing the album to platinum status.

AFROHEAD AKA FELIX THE HOUSECAT- IN THE DARK WE LIVE

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Felix Stallings, Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Stallings’ youth was spent experimenting with electronic musical equipment. He taught himself keyboards by the age of 14, and a year later stepped into a studio for the first time. An early tape of the studio session had been passed on to the elder Pierre by a mutual playground acquaintance. Intrigued, he decided to record it properly, and from those sessions “Phantasy Girl” emerged based on the original keyboard motif from the demo tape. "Phantasy Girl became one of house music’s biggest early cult smashes. Felix went on to release a steady stream of dance music, establishing his name alongside that of Pierre, who remained his mentor. Numerous releases followed on all the major imprints: Strictly Rhythm Records, Gureilla Records (”Thee Dawn”), Nervous Records, D-Jax Up, Chicago Underground and Freetown. He also set up his own Radikal Fear Records imprint, which has released classic cuts by the likes of DJ Sneak, Armando, and Mike Dunn, and provided remixes for mainstream artists such as Diana Ross and Kylie Minogue. Under the title Thee Madkatt Courtship he also provided a long player for Deep Distraxion, while as Afrohead he proffered “In The Garden”, a classic cut, much revered by all sorts of DJs. After a lengthy break from the dance scene, Stallings returned in 1999 under his Thee Madkatt Courtship moniker with I Know Electrikboy

a classic cut you should all know, and love! slammin' 94 techno!

IMMORTAL RAP MASTERS (I.R.M.) - LET'S DANCE

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

In 1979 "Rappers Delight" by the Sugar Hill Gang, made its way across the country opening the floodgates of Hip-Hop music and culture to the masses. The Twin Cities were no exception. Then in the early 80's families moved to Minneapolis from bigger cities. Cities where Hip-Hip Culture thrived and even originated such as New York, Connecticut, Chicago and California. With them came authentic cultural examples that were non-existent in Minnesota. These two factors set the scene. Several individuals who were convinced from the very beginning that Hip-Hop was no "fad" quickly espoused these influences. These "pioneers" created a genesis for an underground movement in Minneapolis that would be in full force by the early 80's.
1979 was also the birth year of Charles C. Lockhart III a.k.a UPset the Locksmith. He is of the first generations to not know life before Hip-Hop music and culture. His older brother Gage was immersed in Hip-Hop's underground relm and heavily influenced early on. The father of the Lockheart Brothers, Charles C. Lockhart II, had a hand in creating that scene in Minneapolis. At the suggestion of Gage, Charles Sr. formed one of city's' first Rap Crews - The I.R.M (Immortal Rap Masters) Crew. He put them on his own label, "Chill Records" and did Minnesota's first full scale Hip-Hop shows in local venues that had never seen such.
I.R.M was recognized through out the Twin Cities' as being among the most talented in rhyming, beat boxing, and Dee-Jaying.

ADONIS AKA MARSHALL JEFFERSON- NO WAY BACK

Adonis made waves on the dancefloor when he recorded several of the best Chicago house singles of the 1980s, including "No Way Back," "Do It Properly" and "We're Rockin' Down the House."
Since then, Marshall`s list of accomplishments in House music read like no one else; in 1987 he produced the first ever Acid House record "Acid Tracks" using the TB 303 and simultaneous launching the successful career of DJ Pierre. He continued to produce and remix on an independent basis into the '90s. In 1993, he and two other house legends (Farley Jackmaster Funk and Chip E) entered the studio and recorded their Godfathers of House series. A true House/Acid House pioneer.

This is a slammin' Acid House workout, if you don't have it DON'T SLEEP!!
